The political drama surrounding the “Sheesh Mahal” has once again intensified as the Delhi Assembly elections approach, scheduled for February 5. The term “Sheesh Mahal,” coined by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), refers to the official residence of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, located at 6, Flagstaff Road.

The BJP alleges that extravagant renovations, reportedly costing over ₹33 crore, transformed the residence into a luxurious abode, complete with amenities such as a golden commode and a swimming pool.

In response, leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), including Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj, attempted to conduct a media tour of the residence to counter these claims but were met with police barricades and heavy security, leading to a sit-in protest.

The AAP has countered the BJP’s allegations by challenging them to reveal the Prime Minister’s residence, dubbed “Raj Mahal,” which they claim was built at an exorbitant cost of ₹2,700 crore.
